So, what can you do to activate homeostasis?
Firstly, meditate. When you quieten your mind, you quieten your body. As you calm yourself down, cortisol and adrenaline levels drop and homeostasis is restored.
Next, diet. In our modern world, food is a major cause of sickness. It shouldn’t be, but it is. In its natural state, food is filled with all the essential life-giving elements we need to stay healthy. Mother Nature made it for us, so it’s perfect for our consumption. We are human beings after-all, and we are designed to eat food made by Mother Nature.
However, in our attempts to master nature, we have chosen to manufacture our own food. That’s true, isn’t it? We don’t collect our food from the fields anymore. We find it in supermarkets stuffed in cardboard boxes and wrapped in plastic, right? By then, it’s been totally stripped of all its natural goodness. The key criteria for the manufacturers are taste, appearance, shelf life and profit. The nutritional value of their products and your health is not their primary concern. I’ve got news for you, food that tastes good isn’t necessarily good for your health.
In fact, many harmful substances are often put into food to make it taste better. Manmade foods consist of refined sugars, highly refined grains, highly refined, hydrogenated fats, artificial flavourings, colourings, preservatives, acids and chemicals. There are over 2600 food additives. What consumers fail to realize is that these laboratory concoctions are unnatural and devastating to human health. If you eat man-made food you don’t stand a chance of being healthy.
In fact, your food is polluted even before it gets to the manufacturer by chemically treated soils, inorganic fertilizers, chemical pesticides and heavily chlorinated water. Do you want to know how food manufacturers get away it? I’ll tell you. They wrap their products up in bright, colourful packaging so it looks attractive, then they dish up lots of saucy advertising that tricks us into believing this junk is actually good for us, and they put this advertising in magazines, newspapers, television, movie houses, everywhere telling you to buy and eat it. And we’re so duped that we literally queue up in supermarkets to buy it. In a world ruled by convenience, consumers don’t think twice as they pack their shopping baskets with man-made food substitutes. They don’t even take the time to read the ingredients on the packaging. Do you know what I mean?
Most shoppers don’t even know what these chemicals are, or how they’re made, never mind the negative effect they have on their body. This is a good time for me to tell you about your microbiome. Only 10% of the cells in your body are human body cells. 90% of your body is made up of bacterial colonies, protozoa and viruses called the microbiome. As a human being, you are influenced by your five senses but your microbiome are only influenced by two things: The food you ingest and the chemical emotions you feel. When you ingest unnatural, acidic man-made food your microbiome are inflamed. I’ll give it to you straight, if you eat man made food you are likely to get sick. Perhaps you’re thinking – what choice do we have? Well, I’m here to tell you that you do have a choice. You have the power to choose food that is good for you, and you vote with your wallet. Take heed of these words. You’re being deceived by greedy profiteers who exploit your ignorance and rob you of the quality, vitality and richness of life that was given to you through Mother Nature by Almighty God. This is your wake up call. Before putting anything into your mouth, carefully evaluate its nutritional value. The next time you see mouth-watering packaging containing manmade foodstuffs – DON’T SWALLOW IT! Literally! The natural way is the only way, yeah?
Now, here’s the next activity: Sleep. I’ll shoot straight: We don’t get enough sleep anymore. We stay up late watching TV, or working, or playing computer games, or surfing Youtube, etc. When we don’t get enough sleep, our endocrine system produces two hormones Ghrelin and Lepton. They interfere with our satiety centre which regulates our metabolism. That’s why we get hungry when we don’t get enough sleep. These hormones destabilize your levels of cortisol and adrenaline and cause inflammation. You need to get a good night’s sleep every night. You got to train yourself to go to bed early.
Now, let’s move on to exercise: When you exercise, your body produces growth hormones which build muscle mass and reduce Cortisol and Adrenaline. When you get sick, you become weak. When you don’t exercise regularly, you become weak. To increase your strength, you’ve got to start exercising. It’s that simple. Even if you’re very sick, you’ve got to start slowly and build your strength up. Exercise gives you stamina and energy. You need this on a healing journey. There is no other way. It is essential that you develop the habit of exercising every day or at least a few times a week for the rest of your life.

HJX ChallengeHere’s another one: Stretching: It is very important to stretch your body. It opens neural pathways, creates flexibility, builds strength, tones your muscles, and increases your stamina. Most importantly, however, stretching forces you to take time out for yourself - your true-self - and to focus inward. You need to focus inward to gauge how far you can stretch and for how long you can hold a position. Practicing yoga, Pilates or stretch classes are excellent ways to stretch your body, but you don’t have to attend these classes. You can sit at home and move your body around so that you feel your muscles and limbs stretching. It really is that simple. This will calm you down, Cortisol and Adrenaline will drop and homeostasis will be restored. Of course, in my humble opinion, the very best way to stretch your body is to learn Henry Jones’s Yo-Chi Sequence. Make a note to do the

Breath is also very important. Oxygen is the elixir of life. Most people shallow breathe. This is a huge problem, especially since the air we breathe is also filled with pollutants, so there’s much less oxygen. There are many breathing exercises that you can do. In my book, The Healing Chronicles of Henry Jones, Mrs Moffet introduces the main character to several simple yet powerful breathing exercises. You should get a copy and practice them daily too.

Movement is another activator of homeostasis. Simply put: Disease is stuckness. People get stuck in their unhealthy ways. When energy becomes stagnant is causes disease. In this modern world, we don’t move the way we used to. It is very important to use your body and to connect your emotions to this movement. You should seriously do Henry Jones’s 10 healing stances. They are an excellent way to become unstuck.
Last but not least, let’s chat about emotions. There are inflammatory emotions such as anger, resentment, disappointment, hatred, etc. And there are positive emotions like happiness, love, compassion, etc. When you feel positive emotions your body produces hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin and some endorphins that actually promote homeostasis in your body. On a healing journey, it’s essential to get in touch with your emotions. People often block out their feelings, or suppress them, to spare themselves emotional pain. This only works in the immediate term. It’s a very dangerous, dysfunctional practice in the medium to long term. You see, storing up negative emotions makes your body ill. Suppressing emotions seriously impairs the healing process. I’ll say it again: get back in touch with your emotions. Ask yourself constantly, how am I feeling?
I bet your doctors have asked you what you’re feeling, where you feel it, how long you’ve felt it, and how strong you feel it, but I doubt they ask you how you feel emotionally. Most people, especially medical practitioners, underestimate the importance of emotions in the healing process. That’s a fundamental mistake. Storing up negative emotions makes you sick and impairs your immune system. You need to let go of your inflammatory emotions and make yourself happy. Take Henry Jones’s advice and make yourself a happy plan. This will do you a world of good and go a long way to restoring homeostasis in your body.
